DDMRP
DEMAND DRIVEN MRP
Orchestr8’s software gained accreditation from the Demand Driven Institute (DDI) as being fully compliant with their stringent criteria for DDMRP software packages in April 2015. The accreditation covers all aspects of DDMRP including manufacturing as well as purchasing & distribution implementations. The process of accreditation was straightforward for Orchestr8 as we have 15 years’ experience of demand driven planning behind us.
The DDI was founded in 2011 by Carol Ptak and Chad Smith to promote and introduce a standard demand driven methodology across the globe and is now recognised as the leading authority on the subject.
With their acclaimed publications on the subject of DDMRP, beginning with Orlicky’s Material Requirements Planning 3/E and more recently with Demand Driven Material Requirements Planning (DDMRP), Smith and Ptak have standardised demand driven planning principles and have helped greatly increase awareness as a result. These principles have been intrinsic to O8’s methodology and software since Orchestr8’s emergence more than a decade and a half ago.
Now, DDI’s Certified Demand Driven Planner (CDDP) accreditation is rapidly becoming the world standard in demand driven planning, scheduling and execution, providing those involved in any area of supply chain with the understanding and knowledge they need to be effective in a DDMRP environment. From an Orchestr8 perspective, anyone who has studied for their CDDP certification will instantly recognise within O8 the functionality available to follow through the concepts and principles introduced into a fully functioning, intuitive and functionally rich solution for their DDMRP implementation and beyond.
DDMRP is only a part of the planning process supported by O8 but it is a key element and the availability of standard training materials and process definitions greatly enhances the effectiveness of the software implementation.
